PHL Joins Demining Meet in Moscow

03 October 2017 MOSCOW - The Philippines will join experts from ASEAN countries and their dialogue partners to discuss cooperation in the area of humanitarian mine action in Moscow on October 03 to 04 for the Expert Working Group on Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA EWG) under the 5th ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting-Plus (ADMM Plus).

Together with the ASEAN experts at the meeting will be experts from dialogue partners, which include Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, Russia, and the United States. 

The Philippine Expert to the meeting Brigadier General Noelito C Albano AFP, Commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Munitions Control Center, met with Philippine Ambassador to Russia Carlos D. Sorreta on October 01 at the Philippine Embassy to discuss the HMA-EWG meeting as well as possible cooperation with Russia in the area of humanitarian mine action.

“Aside from humanitarian demining, Russia has much to share in terms of dealing with improvised explosive devices and unexploded ordnance,” Ambassador Sorreta said. “These are issues that we are facing today and where we can explore possible cooperation with Russia in terms of training and capacity building,” he added.
