Tripoli joint independence day with filcom and embassy

25 July 2013 - The Philippine Embassy in Tripoli, Libya and Filipino community jointly celebrated the 115th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine Independence last June 14 at the Qurtoba Gym, Hay Andalus. It was attended by an estimated 500 Filipinos.

Various Filipino community groups participated in the cultural presentation: “Balang-bang” (courtship dance of the Mountain Province) by the Tripoli Medical Center (TMC), “Maglalatik” by SBEA Filipino Community, “Pandanggo sa Ilaw” by Filipino Community Organization in Libya (FILCOL) and modern dance “Piliin mo ang Pilipinas” by the United Filipino Community. Ms. Jacquelyn T. Benitez represented the Philippine Embassy singing “Ako ay Pilipino”. OPM  “Dakilang Lahi” and “Pitong Gatang” were rendered by TMC Nurse representative, Mr. Christopher Cuizon.

Following the program, everyone shared the lunch prepared by the Embassy and the community. 

Organizing committee members and participants were awarded certificates of appreciation by the Embassy. END
