02 July 2014 - The Department of Foreign Affairs Ladies Foundation (DFALF) Ankara Chapter is the Philippine Embassy’s support group for this year’s Independence Day celebrations.
DFALF members gathered everyday to prepare and assemble the “banderitas”, partly recreating history when Marcela Agoncillo and her two daughters sewed the first Philippine Flag in 1898. The banderitas lent a festive ambiance to the Philippine Independence celebration with the Filipino and international community on June 8 held at the Embassy of the Holy See grounds.
DFALF’s creative ideas were executed in the physical arrangements, costume designs and choreography of dance and children’s presentations.
“The DFALF Ankara members are invaluable partners in showcasing the best of Philippine values, traditions, creativity and artistry and their projects are always carried out with cheerful dedication and fun!,” said Philippine Ambassador to Turkey Maria Rowena Mendoza Sanchez, who was all-praises for the contribution of DFALF members and their children for this year’s Independence Day celebrations.
