07 April 2015 – South Korea-based, non-profit and non-governmental organization (NGO) Samdong International announced on March 31 that it will include the Philippines in its yearlong project to provide crucial medical treatment for needy children in 10 Asian countries.

Samdong International Chairman Kim Tae Hoi told Philippine Ambassador to South Korea Raul S. Hernandez that 10 Filipino children from lower income families will be among 100 selected from developing countries in Asia for free treatment through the best medical centers in South Korea under the 2015 “Cure 100: Children’s Hope Project”.

In the Philippines, Samdong International is partnered with the its affiliate NGO Religions for Peace Philippines to work at the local level to select qualified juvenile patients and to find reliable health care partners that could provide medical assistance for them.

Chairman Kim invited Ambassador Hernandez to attend the project’s launching ceremony, which will be organized by Samdong International and the Won Buddhism Welfare Association at the Won Buddhism headquarters in Iksan City, Jeonbuk province on May 29.

Ambassador Hernandez expressed appreciation to Samdong International, which has focused on educational, agricultural, and vocational support of communities across Southeast Asia, for its invitation and its interest in expanding its presence to the Philippines.
