PHL Embassy Holds Psychological First Aid Seminar for Personnel
Ambassador Neal Imperial opens the seminar on Psychological First Aid, which was attended by all Embassy personnel.
28 December 2017 TEL AVIV — As part of its Gender and Development (GAD) program, the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv organized a series of seminars aimed at building personnel's capacity to reach out and extend services to Filipinos in Israel. The first seminar on Psychological First Aid, was held at the Embassy's conference room on December 22.
Ambassador Neal Imperial, who welcomed participants to the seminar, stressed the importance of learning how to identify signs of psychological trauma and respond swiftly and effectively. He also reminded personnel to ensure that they remained in top physical, psychological, and emotional health in order to be able to maintain excellent service to the Embassy's clientele.
Ms. Rhea Delgado, the Embassy's representative to the Department's GAD training workshop in October 2017, guided Embassy personnel through the basics of Psychological First Aid, including guidelines on how to identify and confirm signs of depression and stress. Personnel also learned how to manage their own stress and administer self-care, both of which were identified as important facets of being effective psychological first aid responders.
A second seminar will be held on the Embassy's last working day of the year, this time focusing on training Embassy personnel to serve as resource persons for the Filipino community in Israel for basic event management and protocol. END
