PH Consulate General in Macau Celebrates Women’s Month with Filipino Community

MACAU 28 March 2019 – The Philippine Consulate General in Macau hosted the annual Women’s Month celebration with the Filipino community at the Chan Meng Kam Theatre on 17 March 2019. More than 400 members of the Filipino community attended the event.

The event centered around the theme “We Make Change Work for Women,” which highlights the empowerment of women as active contributors to and stakeholders of development. The event also stressed on the importance of physical and emotional wellness of women.

In her opening remarks, Consul General Lilybeth R. Deapera highlighted the impact of the Filipinas overseas not only to their families and their places of work, but also to the empowerment of women in the Philippines and around the world.

She expressed gratitude to all the men in the event for giving their support not only to the Consulate General but to their wives, daughters and sisters, and hoped that they will continue helping them in becoming more empowered.

Consul General Deapera also thanked everyone for attending this year’s Women’s Month celebration. She acknowledged the sponsors supporting the event and the members of the committee who helped organized the event. She also congratulated all those who participated in the photo exhibit.

A talk on common health issues was given by Dr. Michael M. Manio from the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong. A trainor from the Philippines, Ms. Albertine Ellen Jimenez provided tips on improving personal image.

The event also included the announcement of the winners of a photo competition, where 13 entries from members of the Filipino community were displayed at the venue and will be displayed at the Consulate General until 31 March 2019. END
