DFA Tacloban CO Supports the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women

TACLOBAN CITY 20 January 2020 –– The Consular office in Tacloban successfully concluded the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and their Children on 12 December 2019 with a program that discussed the significance and its legal bases of anti-VAW initiatives, and the reiteration of DFA’s commitment to promote awareness on the forms of violence women and girls experience.
During the 18-Day campaign, CO Tacloban distributed IEC Materials, printed round fans and button pins with the theme “VAW Free Community Starts with Me”. Video presentations were displayed in the consular area. Personnel wore orange polo shirts on all Fridays during the campaign period, as well as at the beginning and end.
In line with the 18-Day Campaign, CO Tacloban conducted a Lecture Seminar on RA 9208 or Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003 with a discussion on Republic Act (RA) 10364 an act to institute policies to eliminate trafficking in persons especially women and children, establishing the necessary institutional mechanisms for the protection and support of trafficked persons, providing penalties for its violations and for other purposes last 07 December 2019.
Personnel of CO Tacloban also participated on the 18-Day Campaign Online Advocacy supervised by Philippine Commision through changing Facebook Profile Frame available through the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) FB page and sharing of media cards that PCW released. CO Tacloban was also featured on the official Facebook Page of PCW. END
