JEDDAH 22 January 2020 –– The Filipino community in Jeddah pledged to end Violence Against Women (VAW) and signed an anti-VAW commitment form as part of the 18-Day Campaign to End VAW which coincided with the second State of Post Address held at the Philippine Consulate General grounds on 05 December 2019.

Led by the Consulate’s Gender and Development Focal Officer Consul Mary Jennifer D. Dingal, the pledging ceremony emphasized the importance of working together to protect and promote the rights of women.

The Women and Children Help Desk (WCHD) was also launched in the same event in support of the Consulate's Gender and Development (GAD) program. The WCHD is tasked to help ensure a gender-fair and violence-free Filipino community in Jeddah and the Western Region of Saudi Arabia where women and their children are empowered and free from any and all forms of violence.
