PH Embassy in Brasilia Conducts Lecture on Filipino Artists

BRASILIA 22 January 2020 –– As part of Post’s Gender and Development (GAD) program and to achieve its objective of imparting to the Filipino community, especially the women, a better appreciation of Philippine culture and history, the Embassy held a lecture on “An Introduction to Filipino Artists and their Works” at the Chancery on 22 December 2019.
The lecture aimed to introduce to the Filipino community the significant contributions of our national artists and their works in the fields of music, literature, dance, theater, visual arts, theater, sculpture and film.
Literary expert and faculty member at the Department of Letters of Centro Universitario UNIEURO in Brasilia Professor Barbara B. Bomfim served as the resource person, presented a brief lecture of the works of National Artists Levi Celerio and Ryan Cayabyab for Music, Amado V. Hernandez and Nick Joaquin for Literature, Francisca Reyes-Aquino and Alice Reyes for Dance, Wilfredo Ma. Guerrero for Theater, Fernando Amorsolo, Carlos “Botong” Francisco and Larry Alcala for Visual Arts, Napoleon Abueva for sculpture, and Lino Brocka for film. The lecture was followed by a painting workshop.
The event which was attended by 40 members of the Filipino community giving them a richer appreciation of Philippine culture. END
