THE HAGUE 13 February 2020 — The Philippine Embassy in The Hague hosted the ASEAN Ladies Circle The Hague (ALCTH) Coffee Morning entitled “A Philippine Folk Music Morning” on 07 February 2020 at the Philippine Ambassador’s residence in Scheveningen, The Hague.
The event was led by Madame Veredigna M. Ledda, spouse of Philippine Ambassador to The Hague Jaime Victor B. Ledda.
Madame Ledda welcomed ALCTH Patron/s, Board Committee, and Members to the coffee morning session. Mrs. Kartini Maruzi, ALCTH President and Acting Chairperson of the Malaysian Ladies’ Association, then introduced the new ALC members and presented souvenir gifts to its outgoing members.
The Embassy’s hosting of the event introduced the rich folk song tradition of the Philippines. “Philippine Folk Music Morning” featured Ms. Mary Ann Morales, a Filipina musical artist based in the Hague. Ms. Morales taught guests and members of the ALCTH two Philippine folk songs, namely: Leron Leron Sinta (a children’s song) and Dahil Sa Iyo (a kundiman or classic love song).
After the lively performance, Mrs. Ledda and the Philippine Embassy ladies invited the ALCTH members to a Philippine merienda prepared by sous chef at Sheraton Amsterdam Chef Reynorr B. Samson.
