PH Embassy in Rome Kicks Off National Women’s Month Celebration

ROME 03 March 2020 – The Philippine Embassy in Rome kicked off the Philippine-wide celebration of National Women’s Month with a flag-raising ceremony attended by Embassy personnel and clients on 02 March 2020.

A talk by Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo Nolasco on the reason behind the celebration in the Embassy’s consular section immediately followed.

At the flag ceremony, the Embassy showcased a video of the Philippine National Anthem from the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) featuring remarkable Filipino women across history.

Ambassador Nolasco then highlighted to the Filipino clients in the consular section the National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) theme, “We Make Change Work for Women.” He explained the salient provisions of the Magna Carta of Women (R.A 9710) and enjoined the Filipino clients to support the Embassy’s efforts in ending discrimination and violence against women by reporting such cases, if any, to the Embassy, for action.

A series of activities would be conducted by the Embassy in connection with the NWMC, such as the provision of special lanes for women, continuation of its regular jail visits to women detainees as part of its assistance to nationals program, the conduct of gender and development activities for the benefit of the Filipino community, information dissemination using its social media platforms, and the wearing of purple office attire by the Embassy personnel on all the Fridays of the month to symbolize its support to the NWMC’s cause, among others.
