PH Consulate General in Xiamen Celebrates National Women’s Month 2020

XIAMEN 09 March 2020 – Vice Consul and Acting Head of Post of the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen Elaine Mae V. Laruan-Hernandez led the flag raising ceremony at the Consulate General’s Bulwagang Bayan (Heroes Hall) on 09 March 2020 in celebration of the National Women’s Month.

Vice Consul Laruan-Hernandez delivered a short remarks on women’s role in history as well as expressed appreciation on the achievements and contributions of women in various fields especially those serving at the Home office and in the various Philippine Embassies, Consulates, and Missions around the globe.

The Consulate General’s personnel showed their observance and solidarity by wearing purple, the official color of the National Women’s Month.

Furthermore, during the month of March, the Consulate General also handed out a set of brochures which included the Republic Act 9710 on the Magna Carta of Women as well as Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) brochures to its clientele to promote awareness on the rights of women.

The National Women’s Month Celebration  every March is part of the worldwide observance of the International Women’s Day (IWD). END
