BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 08 October 2020 - Through the initiative of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office-Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (POLO-OWWA), the Philippine Embassy in Brunei successfully held the 10th edition of the Basic Baking Course Program for active OWWA members at the Migrant Workers and Other Overseas Filipino Resource Center (MWOFRC) on 04 October 2020.
In deference to the existing health and safety protocols of the government of Brunei Darussalam, and due to space constraints, the number of participants had to be limited. A total of 10 OFWs participated in the half-day course conducted by Mr. Abegael L. Vinluan who shared simple baking rules and step-by-step procedures of baking red velvet and carrot cakes. The participants were divided into groups, with each given a set of baking ingredients and utensils.
The employment profile of the course participants ranged from household service workers, semi-skilled workers and professionals.
The Basic Baking Course is part of the Reintegration Program for OFWs which aims to provide them with additional livelihood skills, especially to Household Service Workers (HSWs). The course has been initiated by POLO-OWWA in 2018. END
