PHNOM PENH 27 October 2020 - The Facebook page “Mental Health e-Helpline for Filipinos in Cambodia” (https://www.facebook.com/eHelpline/) was successfully launched on 10 October 2020 to coincide with World Mental Health Day through the collaboration of the Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and Filipino volunteer counselors.
Given the limited number of counseling centers in Cambodia, the Mental Health e-Helpline aims to provide free counseling to overseas Filipino nationals based in Cambodia through online applications, including Zoom, Facebook Messenger, and Telegram.
The Mental Health e-Helpline, managed by the Philippine Embassy and Filipino volunteers, was created as a project under the Embassy’s Gender and Development (GAD) section to promote mental health awareness and address mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression, especially during the pandemic. The page was formed through the assistance of the Teachers Learning Action Guild (TLAG), led by its founder Mr. Jay Ian Capungan.
More details on the counselors’ schedules and counseling areas may be found in the Facebook page. END
