DFA Consular Office in Butuan Joins Campaign to End Violence Against Women
BUTUAN 09 December 2020 — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office (CO) Butuan conducted a virtual Gender Sensitivity Training through google meet platform as one of its activities in the celebration of the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) on 28 November 2020. It was participated by all the office, security, and utility personnel, including DFAMPC staff to increase the awareness about gender-based violence especially on women.
The Officer-in-Charge and the GAD Focal Person, Ms. Rhodarora G. Zaportiza-Corvera, gladly welcomed the participants and expounded the importance of conducting sensitivity training every so often as the CO is a frontline oriented entity that caters to consular concerns of people from all walks of life. She added that being gender sensitive in the workplace would show equal respect and fair treatment towards the clients and co-workers.
Mr. Eval Makinano, Training Specialist III, Capability Building Section and Learning & Development Section Head from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office Caraga shared his expertise and insights. The training also included virtual interactive games and activities which sparked the participation of the personnel to express and share their ideas and understanding towards the activity. END
