PH Chargé d’Affaires to Syria Holds DOST Webinar on Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion Impacts of the Pandemic

DAMASCUS 30 March 2021 — As part of the National Women’s Month celebration of the Philippine Embassy in Damascus, Syria and in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP), Philippine Chargé d’ affaires, a.i. to Syria Vida Soraya S. Verzosa held a webinar on the Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) via Zoom and Facebook Research Pod of DOST on 29 March 2021, which was attended by all personnel of DOST-NRCP and the faculty and students of Philippine Science and Technology. 

CDA Verzosa, who was formerly Legal Consultant and Supervising Science Research Science Specialist in the DOST Main Office for several years and a scholar of the Australia Awards in the University of Queensland GEDSI Mainstreaming Course, served as Resource Person and discussed Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion on the impacts of the pandemic. 

She also emphasized the importance of the context of the GEDSI Scorecard in the Philippines, which may be very useful in formulating policies in an institution or organization. The GEDSI Scorecard was also administered to all the webinar participants for data-gathering and data analytics. CDA Verzosa also entertained questions after her presentation.
