VANCOUVER, 25 October 2021 – As part of its Gender and Development (GAD) and Organizational Development programs, the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver organized a one-day Staff Development Training on Filipino Cuisine for its officers and staff, including attached agencies, at the Vancouver Community College (VCC) on 16 October 2021.

The participants were divided into three groups, with each given a set of ingredients and utensils. Each team had to create four Filipino dishes such as shrimp sinigang, beef morcon, brazo de mercedes, and suman with chocolate de baterol using the recipes provided by Chef Helen Orimaco Pumatong.

Chef Pumatong, a Chef instructor for the Restaurant Operations Course in the Hospitality Management Program at VCC, led the training session and shared various kitchen and cooking tips and techniques that the Consulate personnel found useful.

The cooking session provided the participants with the knowledge and skills on food preparation, selection of ingredients, and table/place setting. The training was also aimed at enhancing teamwork and camaraderie among Consulate personnel. END
