VIENNA, 17 November 2021 – Former Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Delia D. Albert held a small group discussion of the Philippine international gender agenda and achievements with select members of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna (DA) Students Advocating Gender Equality (SAGE) association on 16 November 2021.

In her remarks, former Secretary Albert highlighted the achievements of strong women of the Philippine Foreign Service, who played an instrumental role in advancing women’s rights in various multilateral fora, as well as the Philippines’ progressive stance on the role of women in society.

The closed event, which was held in the DA’s main hall, attracted students active in promoting gender issues. The students warmly welcomed former Secretary Albert and took the opportunity to have an open and informal exchange with her on various gender-related issues, including the unique challenges that women face in the course of their careers. They lauded her “insightful and personal talk,” and stated that it elevated their understanding of the “role of an ambassador, especially an ambassadress.”

The activity was organized by the Philippine Embassy and Permanent Mission in Vienna, in cooperation with the SAGE, as part of its Gender and Development (GAD) program for 2021. END
