Pampanga CO concludes its 18-Day VAW campaign

PAMPANGA, 14 December 2021 — The DFA Consular Office (CO) in San Fernando, Pampanga concluded its 18-day campaign to end Violence Against Women on 10 December 2021 after a series of activities which started on 25 November 2021. DFA Pampanga conducted several activities to intensify its VAW campaign and to reach out to as many passport and authentication applicants as possible.
During the Flag raising ceremony on 29 November 2021, Mr. Chester A. Diaz, Head of the Consular Office encouraged the personnel to be more involved with the campaign stressing the importance of familiarizing themselves with RA 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act of 2004 and to make a conscious effort to promote awareness.
Following the flag raising, GAD focal persons Mlles. Janine Anne B. Santos and Reylin Danielle P. Piozon briefed the staff on the 18-day campaign activities. In addition, they also gave an overview of VAW and the commitment of the office to support this campaign.
DFA Pampanga, in cooperation with the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region III distributed flyers and information kits to applicants during the 18-day campaign. Short talks before the applicants were also given to further emphasize the message of the campaign.
In consonance with this year’s theme, “Filipino marespeto: Safe Spaces, kasali Tayo”, the office also distributed face masks, mask holder lanyards and alcohols to applicants to highlight the importance of protection and safety during the pandemic and to raise awareness on the Safe Spaces Act.
Updated VAW hotline numbers, which were provided by the San Fernando Philippine National Police (PNP) Women and Children’s Desk, were also made available to the public. The monitors of the office also played VAW awareness videos all throughout the campaign period. END
