From 18 November to 23 December 2021, the Embassy will be featuring in its social media pages “All Hands on Deck: Filipina Game-Changers in Germany,” a campaign on inclusivity and gender equality, in support of the campaign to end violence against women. By highlighting the achievements of Filipinos of different genders and orientations, the campaign shows how gender discrimination has no place in the ongoing fight for sustainability and peace.
Game-changers featured in this campaign are, namely: (1) Dr. Denise Margaret Matias, a professor of Sustainability at the Eberswalde University of Sustainable Development, said to be the first tenured Filipino professor in Germany; (2) Ms. Sheree Domingo, an award-winning Filipina-German comic artist, illustrator, and visual problem solver, whose publication, “Ferngespräch, Edition Moderne,” sheds light on the stories of migrants in Germany; (3) Ms. Jenny Mauermann, an athlete in her 40s who pushes herself to the limit and inspires others to shatter age and gender stereotypes; (4) Ms. Nadine Co and Ms. Jessie Villanueva, a lesbian couple in the I.T. industry in Germany, who are also well-followed vloggers; and (5) Ms. Janelle Dumalaon, a Filipina broadcast journalist in German media.
