Filipino Communities in US Midwest join PH Consulate in VAW campaign

CHICAGO, 17 December 2021 - The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago and the Filipino community in the US Midwest joined in the observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) from 25 November to 12 December 2021 with an event held on 22 November 2021.
Consul Ryan Francis D. Gener delivered the message on the importance of the VAW campaign awareness and presented the series of short films, “Unspoken Words”, which depicts the various forms of violence against women such as human trafficking, revenge porn, date rape, VAW in schools, and VAW at home. The short films were played in a loop at the reception area of the consular section for the viewing of the Consulate’s visitors and clientele.
The campaign was conducted under the stewardship of Consul General J. Susana Paez, who has been strongly advocating for greater awareness and broader participation in gender and development concerns.
The Consulate also shared with the Filipino communities under its jurisdiction the VAW banner for display and viewing at their respective community centers. END

Filipino communities in Missouri and Indiana enthusiastically welcomed and supported the VAW awareness campaign.
