OSLO, 09 March 2022 – For the first weekend of Women’s Month, the Philippine Embassy in Oslo conducted a Special Consular Saturday Service for Filipino women and their children in Norway on 05 March 2022. Despite being a Saturday, the Embassy opened its doors and processed close to a hundred applications for passport, civil registry, notarization of affidavits, and attestation of au pair contracts.
While waiting for their turn, applicants were served with coffee and some snacks which were sourced from Filipino-owned businesses Johanna’s Cakes and PAN by Bread n’ Butter, as part of the Embassy’s program to support and promote Filipino businesses in Norway.
For the rest of the year, the Embassy will launch other programs advocating for the rights of overseas Filipinos, especially of Filipino migrant women. As of June 2021, around 80% of Filipinos in Norway are women. END
