BEIRUT 10 March 2022 — The Philippine Embassy in Beirut opened its month-long celebration of the International Women’s Month through a reproductive health seminar on 06 March 2022. Philippine Ambassador to Lebanon Raymond R. Balatbat opened the event through a town hall forum participated by members of the Filipino community.

The town hall event and webinar provided an opportunity for the Embassy to discuss upcoming activities and programs while at the same time, increasing awareness on reproductive health. The Sunday event was attended by Filipino community leaders at the chancery and on Zoom while being simultaneously streamed live on Facebook with 2,100 views.

Dr. Elma T. Jocson, a fellow at the Philippine Board of Surgeons and medical practitioner in Lebanon, gave the lecture on reproductive health. Lebanon hosts approximately 17,000 Filipinos, 97% of which are women.

Given the growing attention to health security as a matter of policy, the Embassy shall focus programs on the health issues of migrant workers for the 2022 celebration of Women’s Month. A medical mission, in partnership with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), shall be held in the succeeding Sundays of March. END
