PH Ambassador Meets Turkish Minister for Family and Social Services

ANKARA 07 April 2022 – Philippine Ambassador to Turkey Ma. Elena P. Algabre met with Minister of Family and Social Services Derya Yanık on 06 April 2022.

The Ambassador and the Minister discussed similar programs between the Philippines’ Department of Social Welfare and Development, and Turkish Ministry for Family and Social Services aimed at uplifting family life and the status of women, children, and persons with disabilities.

“Like Turkey, the Philippines recognizes the significant contribution of women to development,” said Ambassador Algabre during the meeting. “Of the 4,500 Filipinos in Turkey, around 85% are women,” she continued. 

The Ambassador thanked Turkey for hosting migrants in Turkey, including Filipinos, and for providing them with access to government services. She expressed interest in cooperating with the Ministry to enhance awareness of Filipino migrants on their rights and social services that they could avail of. END
