DFA Pampanga, DSWD Region III Celebrate Adoption, Alternative Child Care Week

PAMPANGA 29 June 2022 — In in celebration of the Adoption & Alternative Child Care Week with this year’s theme, “Journeying Together: Discovering the New Law and Celebrating Legal Adoption”, the DFA San Fernando Pampanga personnel participated in the briefing on “Simulated Birth Rectification Act of 2019” (Republic Act No. 11222) and “Domestic Administrative Adoption and Alternative Child Care Act” (Republic Act No. 11642) on 22 June 2022 at the consular office.

DSWD social workers, Ms. Jamaica B. Miguel and Ms. Rose Angelynne C. Trinidad discussed the process of as well as requirements and conditions for rectification of simulated birth certificates pursuant to RA 11222.  They also presented various cases where simulated birth certificates could be identified as it important for the consular staff to provide useful advice and accurate information to applicants. 

Simulation of birth records involves tampering of civil registry by declaring that a child was born to a person other than the child’s biological mother, causing the loss of the true identity and status of the child.  This is normally done in lieu of undergoing regular adoption procedures.

The DSWD representatives also gave an overview on Domestic Adoption and Alternative Child Care Act, as well as the Foster Care Services of the DSWD. 

An Adoption Help Desk manned by social workers was also set up by DSWD at the Consular Office to respond to queries and provide assistance to interested individuals from 22-23 June 2022. A total of 12 individuals were assisted by the Adoption Help Desk.

The project aims to raise awareness domestic adoption and advocate legal adoption and foster care.  It also fosters closer cooperation between the DFA and local government agencies in Region III. END
