PCG Calgary Hosts Financial Literacy Webinar for Women in Alberta and Saskatchewan

CALGARY 28 September 2022 – The Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Calgary, in cooperation with Social Security System (SSS) and Pag-Ibig Fund, conducted a financial literacy webinar entitled “Investing 101 in Government Funds - A Financial Literacy Webinar for Filipino Women in Canada” on 21 September 2022 via Zoom, as part of the PCG’s Gender and Development program for 2022.

Consul General Zaldy Patron, in his welcome remarks, stated that the goal of the webinar was to empower Filipino women in Alberta and Saskatchewan with the knowledge to manage their finances and to teach them how to save, invest, and grow their hard-earned money by investing in Philippine government funds.

Ms. Rhea Biggs, SSS Representative for Calgary, discussed the various SSS benefits and loans. On the other hand, Mr. Eric Elloso, Pag-Ibig Representative - Information Officer V and Team Lead of the Virtual Office-North America of the OFW Center Operations Department of the Pag-IBIG Fund, explained the various funds of Pag-Ibig including Pag-Ibig Regular Savings Fund, Pag-Ibig MP2 Savings Fund, Pag-Ibig Housing Loan, and Pag-Ibig Virtual Savings. The discussion was followed by a Question and Answer session.
