PH Embassy in Moscow Holds Webinar on Ovarian and Uterine Cancer

MOSCOW, 20 October 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Moscow successfully conducted its online session on “Ovarian and Uterine Cancer: Knowthe Signs” on 16 October 2022 with 50 registered participants. The lecture was presented by Dr. Nanette Pamatian-Pagalan, Chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine of Sta Ana Hospital in Manila.
Discussions centered on the importance of screen tests to help diagnose or rule out ovarian or uterine cancer. Unhealthy lifestyle is also a factor that influence the risk of cancer. Dr. Pamatian-Pagalan also mentioned that despite advances in surgical techniques and chemotherapy, ovarian cancer is still a leading cause of death among gynecological cancers.
In his opening remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Russia Igor G. Bailen said that “Cancer is a family experience and most of us have relatives who died of cancer or are suffering from cancer and the going through cancer can be very emotional, with many ups and downs. Hence, we can reduce risk of getting cancer by making healthy choices”. END
