PH Consulate General Milan Joins 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW)

MILAN, 12 December 2022 – Philippine Consulate General in Milan joins the nationwide celebration of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, which commenced on 25 November 2022, through the display of the VAW official streamer within consulate premises and the VAW banner on its official website and Facebook page. 

The Consulate General also gave away VAW t-shirts and face masks and provided free coffee and snacks for its clients during the campaign period. During this time, the Consulate General also disseminated various VAW-related information kits and materials to its clients.

Furthermore, on 03 December 2022, the Consulate General’s personnel, headed by Gender and Development (GAD) and Assistance-To-Nationals (ATN) section, also joined the multicultural interactive workshop called “We are not Alone” hosted by the Agenzia Scalabriniana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo (ASCS) - a non-profit organization that works in collaboration with the city government of Milan, Caritas, Farsi Prossimo, University of Pavia, and Sta. Maria del Carmen Church. The workshop aims to protect women by creating awareness in recognizing the types and early warning signs of gender violence. During the event, a free mobile application called Bright Sky was also introduced to provide support for women who are experiencing domestic abuse. Among the participants were women from Italy, Ukraine, Columbia, Brazil, and Philippines. Through its WASI (literally, house in Quechua) project, the WASI project also provide services such as healthcare, psychological counselling, shelter, and free legal assistance for distressed migrant women.
