PH Embassy in Ankara Kicks Off 18-Day Campaign to Raise Awareness on Ending Violence Against Women

ANKARA, 20 December 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Ankara joins the Philippines and the international community in the campaign that aims to raise awareness on ending violence against women and girls which commenced on 25 November 2022. The Philippine government’s 18-day campaign to end VAW concludes on 12 December 2022.
Philippine Ambassador to Türkiye Mariel P. Algabre leads Embassy personnel in the 2022 campaign, with today’s activity on leaving handprints on white posters with the words “Stop Violence Against Women” to raise awareness and to live by the spirit of non-violence. The Embassy’s posters are displayed at the Consular Section of the Embassy. Hence, the public, including Filipino community members, visiting the Embassy are also joining in the campaign by raising their hands in solidarity to end violence against women and girls.
This year marks the 20th year of participation of the Philippines in the international Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, which led to the passing of national laws including Republic Act (RA) 9208 Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012 and RA 9262 Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004.
