PH Embassy in Buenos Aires Holds Agribusiness Webinar for Filipino Community in celebration of Women’s Month

BUENOS AIRES, 05 April 2023 – To celebrate Women’s Month, the Philippine Embassy in Buenos Aires, in cooperation with the Department of Agriculture (DA), conducted a hybrid webinar on agribusiness with an in-person component on 25 March 2023 for the benefit of the Filipino communities in Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Uruguay. 

The webinar, titled “WE are for Gender Equality and Inclusive Growth: An Agribusiness Webinar for the Filipino Community,” generated interest among the participants, with over thirty participants joining online and in person, the Embassy’s GAD event yet.  

Ambassador Grace T. Cruz-Fabella gave the opening remarks in her opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of women helping each other promote economic empowerment and raise awareness about agribusiness opportunities.

Engr. Anne Glyn Frias-Lisbo, Chief of the DA-Agribusiness and Marketing Services (DA-AMAS), gave an overview of the business process and the technical assistance and other services DA-AMAS provides entrepreneurs. 

Emmalyn Guinto, Chief of the Communication Affairs division of the Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC), provided a comprehensive discussion of financing programs facilitated by the ACPC for qualified recipients. 

Joining the webinar was Ms. Lilybeth Balmes Danan, owner of LilyKoi, a company that produces fresh passion fruit extracts and passion fruit products, and a successful graduate of the Micro Agri Kabuhayan program. She shared her mission to revive the passion fruit industry in her hometown in Taysan, Batangas, and the challenges of running a business while taking care of her son and family. 

The agribusiness webinar is part of the Embassy’s series of financial literacy programs for the Filipino community, and this session was for the prospective women entrepreneurs among them. END
