QUEZON CITY 05 April 2023 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office (CO) NCR-Northeast (Ali Mall) participated in the nationwide celebration of the National Women’s Month for the whole month of March.
CO personnel supported this year's Women's Month with the theme "WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society" by wearing purple ribbons throughout the duration of campaign period. In order to show their support for women's empowerment and gender equality, the CO personnel also actively engaged in the #PurpleWednesdays campaign by wearing purple and purple face masks on all Wednesdays of March.
The 2023 Women's Month campaign banner was posted on the TV monitor in the consular reception area in addition to the streamers that were displayed in the passport, releasing, and authentication areas.
On March 8, the CO took part in the observance of International Women's Day. They have given complimentary face masks on all applicants who came in purple attire. Following the CO's operation, they also engaged in a simple activity and shared some food to celebrate.
During the last week of the month, the CO held a simple activity where children applicants between the ages of eight (8) and fourteen (14) together with their mothers can participate through a mini game called “How well do you know your mother?”. The CO has prepared basic questions for them to respond to, and as a prize and mark of appreciation for participating, they provide free cookies and chocolate.
Through its various programs and activities, the Consular Office will continue to support gender equality and women's empowerment in the workplace. One of the steps taken by the CO is setting up a Gender and Development (GAD) Corner where they can post GAD-related information. The CO is also in the midst of setting up a breastfeeding area for the lactating mother applicants.
The active participation of the CO in this year’s Women’s Month Celebration was spearheaded by GAD Focal Point Officer (GADFPO), Ms. Joy Hombrebueno and GADFPO Alternate, Mr. Robert John Grimares with the help of the CO’s women personnel together with the guidance of the Head of Consular Office Ms. Thelma Divino and CO Administrative Officer Ms. Josephine Luna.
