Embassy of Qatar Extends Support to IBF’s Scholarship Program

PASAY 10 October 2023 – Ambassador Ahmed Saad N. A. Al-Homidi of the State of Qatar turned over the Qatari Embassy’s donation worth half a million pesos to the Scholarship Program of the International Bazaar Foundation, Inc. (IBF) in a ceremony held today at the FSI Library of the Department of Foreign Affairs. The donation was received by Madame Pamela Louise Manalo, Chairperson of the Foundation, and witnessed by IBF President Consul Betty Ang and IBF Treasurer Ms. Alice Tesoro-Guerrero.

In his remarks, Ambassador Al-Homidi stated, “Qatar will remain a friendly nation to the Philippines and I am so thankful that Qatar was again given the chance to contribute to IBF’s noble projects in the Philippines.”

Madame Manalo thanked the Ambassador for his kind and generous support for the scholarship program of the IBF. 

“I am both humbled by and proud of the renewed commitment of your Embassy to the mission of the IBF. The Embassy last made a contribution to the Foundation in 2019 and I am very pleased and grateful to have this opportunity  to partner once again with the Embassy of Qatar on this remarkable endeavor,” Madame Manalo said. 

A certificate of appreciation was also presented by IBF Chair Madame Manalo and the IBF Board of Trustees to Ambassador Al-Homidi.

Secretary for Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo, together with officers and personnel from the Office of the Secretary and the Office of Middle East and African Affairs, joined the post-event socials.

The International Bazaar Foundation (IBF) is a non-profit fundraising institutional foundation established in 1966. With over 57 years of dedicated service, the IBF remains committed to its vision of supporting disadvantaged sectors of the population through charitable activities as well as fostering stronger bonds within the diplomatic community in Manila.

The Scholarship Program stands as the Foundation’s flagship initiative and provides education opportunities to deserving children within its communities, particularly those from the lower income brackets. An annual screening ensures that these grants are awarded to the most deserving and dedicated students. The IBF has nurtured more than 500 scholars  and is currently supporting 40 active scholars.
