PH Embassy in Buenos Aires Holds Seminar with Filipino Community on the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act

BUENOS AIRES 07 December 2023 – In support of the 18-day campaign to end Violence Against Women, on 25 November 2023, the Philippine Embassy in Buenos Aires organized a session on Republic Act no. 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act for the Filipino Community in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
In her welcome remarks, Ambassador Grace T. Cruz-Fabella noted that while the Philippines is the most gender-equal country in Asia and the 16th most gender equal country in the world, violence against women remains a public health and social issue that is not confined to the home and affects the woman’s family and community.
Resource speaker Third Secretary and Vice Consul Anna Christina Iglesias gave a presentation on RA 9262, which aims to protect women and children from physical, sexual, psychological violence and economic abuse prevalent in intimate relationships.
The Anti-VAWC Act will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2024. END.
