Vice Consul Aprilfleur Galima-Mejia briefs the participants on RA 9262, Anti-Violence Against Women and Children

GUANGZHOU 11 December 2023 – In observance of this year’s 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, the Consulate General’s Gender and Development (GAD) section successfully hosted a painting workshop entitled “Light and Shade: Capturing Your Emotions Through Art” on 2 December 2023 at its Event Hall. The workshop, conducted by FilEstilo President Mr. Marvic Gile, featured fundamentals in acrylic painting which provided opportunities for participants to learn different styles and techniques.

The workshop participants reflected on their canvas their individual interpretations on how to prevent and stop violence against women and children. The participants expressed the need to raise awareness on the prevalence and different forms of violence in communities that, while mostly affecting women and children, may also affect men. At the end of the session with a collage of finished paintings, the participants felt proud to have done something meaningful and inspirational for victims of violence who may be looking at the paintings once displayed at Post’s Assistance-to-Nationals room.

The workshop was attended by Filipino students from Jinan University and the Consulate General’s staff and family members. END
