DILI 05 March 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Dili, Timor-Leste proudly kicked-off Women's Month with a vibrant display of purple on the First Purple Friday of the month, uniting in a global movement to celebrate women's achievements and advocate for gender equality. This symbolic act marked the beginning of a month-long series of events dedicated to empowering women.

On the first Monday of March, the Philippine Embassy continued its tribute by playing the Philippine national anthem, "Lupang Hinirang," performed by an all-women cast from the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW). This stirring rendition resonated with our commitment to honor the strength, grace, and spirit of Filipino women.

As we move forward through Women's Month, the Philippine Embassy in Dili, remains dedicated to recognizing the invaluable contributions of women in our society. We invite the community to join us in these celebrations, as we wear purple every Friday and start each week with the inspiring message of "Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan!" (“A Fair Society in the New Philippines: Women’s Capabilities, Proven!”) Some of the Embassy’s line-up of activities for the women’s month are its participation to the International Women’s Bazaar in Timor-Leste where the Embassy, in partnership with Filipino business-owners, will showcase Filipino products and food, and a tea party for the Filipino women in Timor-Leste, entitled: ‘’A Tea Party for Her: Appreciating Women’s Roles in Timor-Leste”, among others.

Together, let's embrace this opportunity to reflect on the progress made towards gender equality and recommit ourselves to the journey ahead. END
