PH Consulate General, Sentro Rizal Hong Kong Kick Off 2024 National Women’s Month Celebration

HONG KONG 12 March 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General and Sentro Rizal Hong Kong opened the National Women's Month Celebration last 3 March 2024. Philippine Consul General Germinia V. Aguilar-Usudan presented the 2024 theme entitled, “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patunayan!”. Consul General Aguilar-Usudan called on all the women in the audience to showcase and harness their full potential by actively engaging in national growth and development.
To commence the month-long celebration, the Consulate opened a new exhibit on its "Sining Malaya" Freedom Art Wall featuring Ma. Vianee Ubana Fernie, a Filipina artist based in Lamma Island, Hong Kong. During the short program, Vice Consul Allan G. Revote introduced Sining Malaya’s featured artist of the month who is also aneducator, singer-songwriter, and founder of Sinag Art Space, an independent artist- run space in Lamma Island.
Ms. Fernie's featured art is collectively entitled as the "Feeling Blue Series", composed of 3 works depicting women, which includes an "Untitled" work, and two individually titled pieces called "I am not broken", and "Feeling Blue". These works aim to convey a powerful message of self-discovery, resilience, and the transformative power of art to capture and communicate complex emotions.
Ms. Fernie's featured art may be viewed for free at the Sining Malaya Art Corner located at the PCG public area from Sundays to Thursdays, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. END
