PH Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva Celebrates Women’s Month with Awareness Raising Activities

GENEVA 20 March 2024 – The Permanent Mission of the Republic of the Philippines in Geneva organized an online Seminar on the Magna Carta of Women (MCW) on 13 March 2024 for its personnel and the Filipino community members in Geneva and Vaud.
The seminar was conducted by Atty. Allen Espino, President of FORA Consulting and Member, National GAD Resource Pool, who discussed the relevance and benefits of this landmark law to Filipino women living/working abroad.
On 5 March 2024, Mission also hosted an in-person breakfast meeting with the female Deputy Permanent Representatives of Permanent Missions in Geneva.
The discussion focused on Women in Technology, led by guest speaker, International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Secretary General Doreen Bogdan-Martin, the first woman to ever head the organization. Her talk focused on the crucial participation of women and girls in digital technology and innovation transformation and the promotion of gender equality in the technology workforce.
These activities highlighted the Philippines’ advocacy on inclusion, gender equality & women empowerment in the United Nations and the country’s contributions in norms building in this area in the UN. It was conducted as part of the Mission’s Gender Awareness and Development program and in celebration of the National Women’s Month. END
