CHONGQING 21 March 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing held on 18 March 2024, a National Women’s Month-inspired flag ceremony at its multi-purpose hall. In keeping with the celebration’s color motif, the purple-clad women and men of the Consulate sang to the Philippine Commission on Women’s Lupang Hinirang music video featuring an all-female cast.
In her remarks following the ceremony, Consul General Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo recalled the recurring themes of the Philippines’ National Women’s Month and the significant strides made by the Department to mainstream women’s empowerment and equality while ensuring a safe all-gender workplace. “Beyond our annual National Women’s Month, we must continue to do our part on a daily basis to improve the situation of women and girls in our own country and wherever gender gaps exist in the world. Even as we pay homage to Filipino women, we include in our celebration our male allies who work with us to balance the gender equation,” Consul General Mayo stressed.
Capping today’s program, the Consulate General inaugurated a fully-equipped lactation room for the convenience of visiting mothers and infants in line with its Gender and Development commitments. “This March and throughout the year, the Consulate General takes great pride in deepening the continuing efforts of the Philippine Government to foster gender equality, inclusivity and resilience. The launching of the Consulate’s lactation room substantiates our gender advocacy to provide a supportive environment for women,” the Consul General added. END
