PH Embassy in Canada Highlights Women Leadership in Celebrating International Women’s Day 2024

OTTAWA 22 March 2024— Philippine Ambassador Maria Andrelita S. Austria served as a panelist in the Women Heads of Missions Executive Leadership Panel for International Women’s Day on Parliament Hill, entitled, “Women at the Helm, Leading with Grit to Drive Positive Change Globally,” and highlighted the role of women leaders in ensuring gender equality and inclusivity. Ambassador Austria also joined the City of Ottawa’s Celebration of IWD and another event by the Women Heads of Diplomatic Missions in Ottawa, which was attended by Canada’s Governor General Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon.

The programs of the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs in promoting gender equality was also highlighted by the Deputy Head of Mission Myca Magnolia Fischer in a panel among women diplomats organized by Carleton University’s Norman Paterson School of International Affairs. 

The Embassy also observed #PurpleFridays in support of illuminating the path of the ongoing journey towards gender equality and women empowerment, a tribute to women and their impactful contributions to society.

A series of activities to celebrate National Women’s Month are also scheduled by the Embassy in focusing on the delivery of public service on its #SerbisyoParaKayJuana consular Saturday service, and a gender and development training and capacity building. END
