PH Embassy in Dili Hosts Tea Party in Celebration of National Women’s Month

DILI 26 March 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Dili celebrated National Women’s Month by hosting a tea party on 22 March 2024. This event was dedicated to commemorating the achievements and resilience of women worldwide under the theme: “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan Patutunayan.” The gathering brought together a diverse group of individuals to honor and celebrate the achievements of women in society and discuss the crucial role of women in societal progress and the collective journey towards gender equality.

Philippine Ambassador to Timor-Leste Belinda M. Ante delivered heartfelt welcome remarks to the women of Timor-Leste, setting a tone of unity and reflection. Her speech encompassed the achievements of women and their roles in the success of the community, achieved through resilience and unity, and paid homage to all the women who have paved the way for the advancement of women’s rights and gender equality in the Philippines throughout its history.

The guests enjoyed a selection of teas and delicious finger foods prepared by the Embassy personnel, with some attendees bringing dishes to share. The Embassy extended its appreciation to Mrs. Erna Paris, Ms. Marian Joy Josef, Ms. Sherry Ann Sagun, Ms. Lilia Barrios, and Ms. Eden Sauce, among others, for contributing delectable treats.

One of the highlights of the event was the playful “Purse Scavenger Hunt,” where guests had the opportunity to win simple yet thoughtful prizes. This activity fostered connections among the attendees, encouraging laughter and camaraderie.

The main highlight was the vibrant conversations about women’s achievements and their resilience in the face of ongoing challenges. Guests participated in meaningful dialogue, which strengthened community bonds and renewed their commitment to supporting women’s rights and equality.

Ambassador Ante concluded the event with a tone of gratitude and best wishes, emphasizing the importance of continued advocacy for gender equality, resilience, and the ongoing efforts towards the empowerment of Filipino women in Timor-Leste and around the world. END
