MANADO 20 March 2025 — The Philippine Consulate General in Manado, led by Consul General Mary Jennifer Domingo Dingal, paid a courtesy call on the North Sulawesi Women Empowerment and Child Protection Agency (DP3A). She was accompanied by Mr. Ryan Laurence G. Flores, Protocol Officer, and Mr. Raymondo Wagiu, Liaison Officer/Translator.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Ms. Wanda Musu, Head of DP3A, along with her team. Discussions centered on women’s empowerment efforts in North Sulawesi, where the province ranks among Indonesia’s top five in advancing gender equality and handling cases of sexual and gender-based violence.

DP3A highlighted its public education initiatives on women’s rights and the significant female representation in public office, with women holding the majority of government positions and exceeding the national benchmark of 30% female legislative representation. Ms. Musu also paid tribute to Maria Walanda Maramis, a North Sulawesi native and National Hero, who played a pioneering role in women’s emancipation in Indonesia.

Consul General Dingal commended DP3A’s achievements and acknowledged its commitment to fostering an inclusive society where both women and men contribute to gender equality. She also extended an invitation for future collaboration on awareness programs and officially invited Ms. Musu and her team to the Consulate’s Women’s Month Culminating Event on 26 March 2025. END
