PH Consulate General in Xiamen Celebrates National Women's Month

XIAMEN 31 March 2025 — The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen, led by Consul and Acting Head of Post Charleson C. Hermosura, celebrates the National Women’s Month (NWM) through a series of activities highlighting women empowerment and their significant role in nation-building.

On 14 March 2025, PCG personnel watched “K’Na the Dreamweaver,” a movie about the life of a young T’boli woman who struggled to fulfill concurrent - and sometimes conflicting - expectations as heir to her Dreamweaver heritage, a dutiful Chieftain’s daughter, and a woman in love. The movie showed how K’Na was able to unite two feuding tribes and gain peace.

Consulate personnel also observed “Purple Wednesday” on 19 March 2025, and “Purple Friday” on 14 and 28 March 2025 by putting on purple clothes.  The activities were meant to create awareness of the month’s significance among participants and the people who visited the Consulate. On both “Purple Fridays,” Xiamen PCG held flag lowering ceremonies to further underscore the significance of Filipino women and their invaluable contributions to the country.

To the surprise and delight of guests, visitors, and clients, Xiamen PCG’s LED projector displaying the 2025 NWM celebration theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas” greet them at the Consulate’s reception area. The same theme continues to be displayed at the Consulate’s reception area until the end of the month.

The 2025 National Women’s Month also highlighted Philippines-China relations at the people-to-people level. On 7 March 2025, Chinese female representatives of Jinyuan Management Group (the Consulate’s lessor) visited and delivered rose flowers to each of Xiamen PCG’s female personnel to honor women on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
