OSLO 02 April 2025 – In observance of the 2025 National Women´s Month Celebration, the Philippine Embassy in Norway hosted an information session on cervical screening on 27 March 2025. Ambassador Enrico T. Fos warmly welcomed a team led by Ms. Ameli Tropé, Department Director of the Cervical Screening Program of the Cancer Registry of Norway.
In his remarks, Ambassador Fos reiterated the Embassy's commitment to advancing gender equality and women´s empowerment. “Through these initiatives, we give value to women´s health as a necessary platform for women´s empowerment, and as a foundation of a sustainable and equitable society,” the Ambassador said.
With a background as a gynecologist and researcher, resource person Tropé conducted an engaging cervical screening workshop, with the support of her team at CervicalScreen Norway (Livmorhalsprogrammet), one of three national screening programmes administered by the Cancer Registry of Norway of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH). The interactive session focused on making data and information available to all women in the target group so that they have access to information about the advantages and disadvantages of participating in the cervical screening program. Through this, they can make an informed decision about participation.
In line with maximizing information dissemination, the event was streamed on Facebook Live through the Embassy´s official Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/PHinNorway/). It garnered around 1,800 views. END
