Philippine Embassy in Brussels Celebrates Women’s Month 2025

Third Secretary and Vice Consul and GAD Focal Point Officer Ma. Filonila Alcaraz-Arguelles led a meeting among members of Women Helping Women Network – Luxembourg, Luxembourg City, 05 April 2025.

BRUSSELS 10 April 2025 — The Philippine Embassy in Brussels, Belgium joined the nation in celebrating the National Women’s Month 2025.

Embassy personnel joined the #PurpleWednesday campaign by wearing purple all Wednesdays of the month as a tribute to women and their invaluable contributions to society.

The Embassy also released an updated brochure entitled Love Must Not Hurt: Know More About Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). The brochure provides necessary and accessible information on IPV, which accounts for most of the assistance-to-nationals cases reported to the Embassy by female Overseas Filipinos residing in Belgium. Copies are available at the Embassy’s GAD Corner and on its website.

Finally, the Embassy held meetings with the Women Helping Women (WHW) networks in Belgium and Luxembourg. The WHW Network is a community partner established by the Embassy in 2018 to provide emergency assistance to victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, and other forms of exploitation. Meetings were held with the Networks in Belgium and Luxembourg on 29 March 2025 (online) and 05 April 2025, respectively, to discuss emerging issues among female OFs and how the Networks can effectively address them.

In line with the theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” the Embassy remains committed to empowering women, promoting gender equality, and ensuring equitable access to resources and opportunities.

The Philippine Embassy in Brussels joins the #PurpleWednesday campaign in Brussels on 26 March 2025.
