PHL Ambassador Cites Top Filipino Students in Bahrain

01 June 2017 BAHRAIN — Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain Alfonso A. Ver congratulated the top Filipino students in separate graduation ceremonies of the Philippine School of Bahrain (PSB) and the AMA International School (AMAIS), held recently at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and the Gulf Hotel, respectively.

At the AMAIS, Ambassador Ver congratulated Ms. Keila Chennisa Soliven Calayan who graduated Valedictorian of her class and garnering six academic achievement awards and an offer of a full scholarship for the first year at the AMA International University Bahrain (AMAIUB). Ms. Calayan is the daughter of Jefferson N. Delos Santos, a Senior Software Developer at Bahrain’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and Richelle Soliven Delos Santos, Purchasing Officer of the King Hamad University Hospital. Keila hopes to take up Chemical Engineering and is looking at scholarship opportunities in the United States. Another Filipina, Nouf Olaes, graduated Salutatorian of the same class, making it a 1-2 top finish by Filipino students at the internationally-recognized AMA International School, which has a diverse, multi-nationality student body in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

At the PSB closing ceremonies, a total of 81 Grade 10 students completed their Junior High requirements and were confirmed as eligible to move up to Senior High (Grades 11 and 12) in the coming school year. Ambassador Ver graced the event and congratulated 10th grade completer, James B. Elloso who received awards for Academic Excellence in Communication Arts, Science and Social Studies.

PSB is the first Philippine School overseas that has been accredited by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) and is implementing the K12 Program as prescribed by the Philippine Department of Education.
