11 April 2017 MOSCOW, RUSSIA — Philippine Ambassador to the Russian Federation Carlos D. Sorreta joined religious leaders, government officials and other diplomats on March 14 at the 17th Moscow National Prayer Breakfast. This event is held annually and is an initiative of Russian Protestant churches.

Peter N. Sautov, Chairman of the National Morning Prayer Foundation said the Russian National Prayer Breakfast is a platform where people will demonstrate amicable spirit, mutual respect and ethno-religious tolerance, will promote unity of the Russian people, its consolidation around a unified system of moral values shared by all people, and will make a significant contribution towards solving many pressing problems of a multi-national and multi-confessional Russian society.

The Philippine Embassy has been working with legal and religious experts to develop a better understanding of recent Russian laws on religion. It recently held a seminar on religious freedom in Russia specifically for members of the Filipino Community. END
