14 July 2017 MOSCOW — Philippine scientists brought honor to the country when their expertise was recognized during a recent international scientific gathering in Moscow. Engr. Francis Aldrine A. Tan, Chief Science Research Specialist at the Mapua-DOST Phil-LiDAR1 Project were given a “Best Presenter Award” for each of the two research papers Mr. Tan presented.
Both research papers were on the use of LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology to map river basins in Cavite, Batangas, and Rizal during heavy rainfall periods to aid in the disaster and risk reduction and response of local government units in these areas.
The research papers were delivered at the International Congress of Scientists 2017 (ICS 2017) organized by the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) and the IPN Education Group.
