20 September 2017 MOSCOW — The Department of Agriculture set up a Philippine stand and brought in nine exhibitors from all over the Philippines to showcase some of the country’s best and well-known food products at the 2017 World Food Moscow Exhibition.

World Food is considered one of the top international exhibitions in Moscow for the food and beverage industries. The 4-day international exhibition is held annually and gathers more than 1,000 exhibitors from all over the world. In 2016, some 29,000 visitors reportedly attended World Food, according to the exhibition’s organizers, the ITE Group.

Among the exhibitors were Century Pacific Food, Inc., Ilocos Food Products, See’s International Food Manufacturing Corporation, Sankutsa Food Products, Inc., Jedidah Food Industry, EJT Food Products, Tablea, FEDECON Enterprise and General Merchandise, and the Mindanao Banana Farmers & Exporters Association, Inc. (MBFEA). No less than the owners, CEOs and top executives of said companies went to Moscow to participate in the exhibition.

The Philippine stand received a good amount of foot traffic from traders as well as prospective buyers. Overall, the Philippine exhibitors expressed satisfaction with their decision to participate in the international fair. The Department of Agriculture and the Philippine Embassy in Moscow cooperated in facilitating the productive participation of the first batch of Philippine exporters to come to Russia after close to a decade of hiatus.

On this latest excursion of Philippine business owners and executives to Russia, Philippine Ambassador to Russia Carlos D. Sorreta said, “It’s extremely important to have solid follow-through activities as the Philippine and Russian governments continue to work to forge stronger bilateral ties. With an enhanced and more strategic economic cooperation, both our countries stand to gain mutually.” He further stated, “We welcome the active efforts of more Philippine entrepreneurs and leaders in the business community to come to Moscow and experience it first-hand in order to gain the needed knowledge to do business with their Russian counterparts. I think that building awareness and competency will help our businessmen in the Philippines to make the right partnerships here in Russia. There is interest for Philippine products, the Russian market is ready to accept us. So our Philippine business community has to be ready to meet this demand as well.” END
