13 October 2017 MOSCOW - Philippine agricultural experts examined the latest in Russian agricultural technology and business at the agricultural exhibition "Golden Autumn" in Moscow from October 04 to 07.

Golden Autumn has been held annually by the Russian Government since 2000. It is the main agricultural forum of Russia that features Russian advances in agriculture and agribusiness. More than 1500 companies took part in the exhibition which attracted over 100,000 visitors from around the world.

“Russia is a leader in agriculture and agribusiness, as well as a top manufacturer of agricultural equipment. In recent years, Russia has devoted even more resources and attention to reinforcing its agricultural sector,” Ambassador Sorreta said, adding “there is much that we can learn from each other.”

The members of the Philippine Delegation were Dr. Dionisio DG. Alvindia, Executive Director of Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech); Ms. Cristy Cecilia P. Polido, OIC Director of Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Engineering (BAFE)/ Central Agriculture Fishery Engineering Division (CAFED); Mr. Josephino Agosto, Manager III of the Administrative and Finance Department, Sugar Regulatory Administration; Ms. Remelyn R. Recoter, OIC Regional Executive Director of DA Region Field Office VI, and Mr. Jose IC. Laquian, Agricultural Attaché, Philippine Embassy Brussels, who currently covers the Russian Federation.

Philippine participation in this year’s Golden Autumn was particularly significant given the signing of the Philippine-Russia Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Agriculture Cooperation last 24 May, a day after the Official Visit of President Rodrigo R. Duterte to Russia. Under the MOU, the agricultural departments of the Philippines and Russia agreed to cooperate in agriculture and fisheries research, processing and transportation. END
