PUERTO PRINCESA 03 April 2024 – In line with its steadfast commitment to create a gender-friendly office environment, CO Puerto Princesa capped its series of activities for the 2024 National Women’s Month celebration with the opening of its Children’s Corner on March 27, 2024. This child-friendly nook offers a pleasant and fun experience for both children and their parents during their passport application process. Situated alongside the CO’s Breastfeeding Corner, the Children’s Corner provides interactive toys, children’s books, and a stimulating coloring booklet entitled – ANG AKING PASAPORTE designed by the CO’s very own Passport Processor, Ms. Austin Rose Tandog. This coloring booklet was crafted with the goal of instilling national identity amongst Filipino children and introducing the Philippine Passport to them through the arts.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Children’s Corner was led by Head of Consular Office (HCO) Ms. Liza Jane V. Estalilla , Ms. Efrel P. Piñero (GAD Focal Point Officer - GFPO), Ms. Dannah Rachel C. Pilpil (Assistant GFPO) and Ms. Austin Rose M.Tandog. There were thirteen (13) children present, seven (7) were males and six (6) were females. The children received friendship bracelets crafted by CO Puerto Princesa personnel. Sweet treats and snacks were also served during the event.
To highlight this occasion, CO personnel donned their new office uniform, displaying the Women’s Month theme colors - purple, pink, and white, accented by a hand-woven fabric created and designed by women weavers of the Rurungan sa Tubod Foundation in Puerto Princesa City. This non-profit organization introduces the piña weaving technology to women from poverty-stricken areas of Palawan as a means of providing them alternative livelihood.
In her inspirational message, HCO Liza Jane V. Estalilla informed the guests that this initiative is CO Puerto Princesa’s way of emulating this year’s National Women’s Month celebration theme “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayanan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan!” by supporting the noble cause of the Rurungan sa Tubod Foundation while proudly patronizing and showcasing the artistry of Palaweña weavers through their office uniform.
